Dr. Ana Vilenica

Ana Vilenica is a urban and cultural researcher with research interest in decoloniality in Eastern Europe, housing and no border struggles and feminist methodologies. She edited four books, among which Radical Housing: Art, Struggle, Care is the most recent. She is a member of the Radical Housing Journal Editorial collective and a member of a spokes council of the Interface-journal for and about social movements both dedicated to open source publishing.

Dispossessed Care and Struggles for Care Infrastructures in Serbia

In this talk, I will look at the failures of the care infrastructure in Serbia during the pandemic and the resulting intensification of temporary networks of care. I will look at anti-eviction struggles and their contradictions as a potentially generative site for practicing radical care politics and imagining different futures to come by staying with the trouble, breakdown, and messines of life.
