    Urban intervention, short film walks

Money Walks is a somewhat different type of protest rally. During the course of short film walks, public space becomes a confrontation and projection area for dealing with the increased economization level of society.

During the course of short film walks and with mobile movie equipment, Money Walks leads through Vienna in the evening hours – past the Golden Quarter, into narrow alleys and scarcely known inner courtyards of the city center. Always in focus: the facades of banks and commercial enterprises.

Criticism of Turbo capitalism and the financial system didn't initially find its way onto the movie screen with films, such as "Master of the Universe", "The Wolf", "The Wolf of Wall Street" or "Margin Call". Numerous short films have also been dealing with the topic – for example, the Berlinale winner, "Händelse vid bank" ("Incident in Front of a Bank"), by the Swedish director, Ruben Östlund, a humorous real-time study of a foiled bank robbery that truly took place in Stockholm in 2006. In turn, the Oscar-winning French animation film, "Logorama", is a satire on Hollywood and US consumer culture: All players and objects involved in this action, crime and apocalyptic parody crop up as logos of internationally renowned brands.

Whether it be radical imbalances of power within the scope of world trade, the world economy as a Monopoly game, the "message" conveyed by empty advertising billboards in Greece or the transformation of a idyllic residential neighborhood into surveillance territory: At each stop along the city walks, a short film will be shown, being associated with the history, the social background or the present significance of the respective location. Between the stops and following the tour, there will be the possibility to share information, ask questions and have discussions.

Money Walks does not only show the artistic analyses of the increasing level of society's economization, but along the same lines, it functions as an act serving to form political opinion and as an intervention in public space.
