It is not new, the acknowledgement of photography as a colonial instrument of the anthropological and ethnographic practices. For almost 200 years we have been part of this technological game but recording devices will not be silencing our voices anymore.

We react against the oppression of being watched, recorded, and researched. We are not subjects of your study. We were here, we are here and we will always be here. There is nothing to discover, only things to learn.

Atemporal wisdom that cannot be translated into your words lives within our bodies. Our knowledge production cannot be copied nor understood by the structure of your colonial world. We cannot answer what you want us to explain and there is no interpretation possible of ourselves.

We are here to remind you that your gaze is powerful. We are here to remind you to:

WATCH YOUR SILENCING GAZE!
