::weaving ancestral futures::

‘weaving ancestral futures’ is a community art project, making spaces for Black people, Indigenous people & people from the Global South.
How can we breathe through our collective grief & rage?
How do we breathe our dreams into existence?
We inherited our capacity to heal & to resist.
In five parts, this project invites you to a process of embodiment through somatics, sharing space, creating, dreaming & learning together.
‘Our bodies being our first sight of resistance’; the somatics workshop, centering grief and rage, asks us to breathe and ultimately, to heal, in community.
Meeting at the sharing circle. Let's channel & transform emotions into liberation work.
‘Teased of dreams’, we create wearables together while sewing skills can be shared/learned. In 3 open studio days, we dream together and if desired, bring our ancestral stories with us.
A “passion show” lets us wear our dreams in the forest and continues the creative & emotional processes.
Lastly a pop-up exhibition leaves our rage and grief to breathe on by itself.
All elements, except the exhibition, are exclusively for Black people, Indigenous people and People of the Global South.
We focus on making spaces open & accessible to elders, people raising children, people with disabilities, people with precarious residency & financial situations, people who have histories & presents of war, displacement, genocide & erasure.
