Office & Archive Opening

Hello!

This September will be special as we are opening our doors – not in the usual way as a festival format, but in a new space and with a programme that brings together 15 years of WIENWOCHE. There will be no full festival edition in 2026. Instead, WIENWOCHE is taking a moment to pause, gather and look back, while continuing to move forward. At 15 years, our archive becomes a place to ask what we have built, what has been remembered, what has been forgotten, and what we want to carry into the future.

This September, we're opening up our archive and our new office to the public for the first time. We're bringing together the people who have shaped WIENWOCHE over the years, creating space for new encounters, music, performance, conversation and celebrating together.

TWO DAYS, TWO LOCATIONS

Office and Archive Grand Opening

For the first time, our new office in Ottakring will open to the public as an accessible archive space. Come encounter materials from 15 years of WIENWOCHE, meet some of the people who have shaped it, and experience the archive not simply as a record of the past, but as something alive.

The evening starts with a live musical improvisation and accompaniment by multidisciplinary artist and sound practitioner Hasti Ghasedi, developed specifically for the occasion and unfolding in dialogue with the space and the materials of the archive. We’re very happy to welcome BRin Mag.a Auer-Lozinski, Chair of the Cultural Commission of the 16th District, who will join us with a speech to mark the opening of our new space in Ottakring. 

We’ll also welcome members of the Protest Production Collective (PPC), who first joined WIENWOCHE in 2014 and returned in 2016 and 2017. Ten years on, their work at the intersection of art, activism and resistance remains deeply resonant. Two members of the collective will share experiences and reflections from their work over the years. 

PPC will also run the bar as a homage to their PPC Airlines activation at Wien Mitte in 2017, a response to deportation. All donations from the bar will go to Refugees for Refugees. 

15 JAHRE WIENWOCHE

On Saturday, our celebration begins with a daytime programme in Rohrauer Park, just across the street from the WIENWOCHE office. A moment to celebrate 15 years of work, the people who have carried it, and the connections that make it possible to keep going.

• Starting at 1:00 PM, UMDI is hosting a solidarity event at the table tennis tables in Rohrauer Park (directly across from the office), featuring table tennis, a wrestling tournament, and music. There will also be information on police violence and ways to intervene in solidarity, as well as a fundraiser to cover costs for an affected community member. The event is about solidarity and coming together as a community—including an info table and merchandise from the activists and neighbors of the 1150-based group Mala Zêrîn. Food and drinks will be available, along with space to meet new people, hang out, and spend time together.
• At 16:00, we gather at the WIENWOCHE office on Zagorskigasse for a procession and performance by Amanda Piña, a Vienna-based artist and researcher whose practice engages with movement, ecology, and decolonial thought. Afterwards, we are jointly going to the park for the evening programme. 
• The evening continues with 1 SONG 1 CAUSE, featuring SKOFI, ESRAP, LA WASHA and AENGL alongside DJ sets by Afrowiesn und Bana Saadeh, moderated by Dalia Ahmed.

WHAT HAPPENS FROM AUTUMN ONWARDS?

The programme doesn’t end in September. From October onwards, our Rahmenprogramm continues with a series of Teach-Ins, workshops and conversations, bringing together different voices, practices and forms of knowledge.

Among others, we’ll be joined by Petja Dimitrova, co-founder of WIENWOCHE, Monika Halkort, exploring archives and entropy, Hansel Sato (Wahlwexxsel) and Kid Pex.
