Glitter, glamor, anti-tradition: To kick off WIENWOCHE 2014, the Perverse Initiative welcomes you to the Viennese Hofburg, where societal conditions are rocked at the Wiener Kopulationsring Ball.

Queer in! Drag up! Come out! To open WIENWOCHE, the Perverse Initiative, an activist troop of queers with and without a history of migration, request you to come to the Wiener Kopulationsring Ball (WKR Ball) being held on the noble premises of the Hofburg, and at a later hour, at Aux Gazelles. The WKR Ball is one of many antifascist responses to the Viennese Akademikerball (previously "Ball des Wiener Kooperationsrings", the ball of the Viennese fraternity ring), that is organized in the Hofburg on a yearly basis by the FPÖ. All are welcome who want to shake a leg against racism and sexism, homo- and transphobias, anti-Semitism and anti-Romanism.

In the state rooms of the Hofburg, the esteemed ball audience can expect a champagne reception with a colorful program: Performances by international stars belonging to the global perverse elite and especially entertaining treats such as a citizenship raffle. The official ball kick off is followed by a peppy "Bolognaise", that leads from the Hofburg to the humid halls of the Aux Gazelles. There, under the direction of experienced emcees, the WKR Ball and WIENWOCHE will be opened in celebration by a crowd of debutants. Live acts, BallCanCan and Homoriental DJs promise a roaring ball night in several rooms.

The message of the Perverse Initiative cannot be mistaken: The Akademikerball is just meatloaf – pride means resistance! Join the perverse and celebrate!
