WIENWOCHE
Invitation cards, posters, texts about artists in various media, exhibition plans, work lists, photos, catalogues, magazines contain information about artistic work, production, exhibition history and the reception of visual art.
For 25 years, all these materials have formed the source material for the Archive and Documentation Centre and the starting point for a unique and at the same time most extensive collection on Austrian art production of the Second Republic. More than 100,000 currently indexed objects bear witness to this and allow multi-layered forms of examination and interaction.
The continuous documentation is available in an online database and enables easy access to information, the finding of individual objects and forms an offer for contextualising research.
On the occasion of WIENWOCHE, a guided tour will focus on the visibility of artists
in the context of different geographical references to Austria.
The archive will become an exhibition space and the data stock will be analysed and questioned with a focus on the representation and reception of geographical relations and mobility. The result will offer insight into the current and past structures of the Austrian art field.
