WIENWOCHE
WIENWOCHE MEETS VIENNA DESIGN WEEK
We celebrate our diversity.
We celebrate the power of art.
We celebrate together.
Pointing out the unequal power relations and the resulting effects in society is our daily work, our daily concern. Usually we meet at conferences, symposia, forums and on social media. Yet the heroes* of civic work rarely meet in person because the different communities are separated from each other at most events – thematically and spatially.
True connections and trust are not built on a rational level. They emerge from the things that connect us emotionally.
This is exactly what we want to do at this event: we want to go together beyond everything that separates us. Think together, dance together, laugh together, honor our ancestors together. Together we want to leave behind the headlines of all conferences and connect as what we all are: People.
Beyond Borders: Intersectional and Transdisciplinary
We address all those people who are already active but separated in their groups, who want to look beyond their own activist horizons and get to know and connect with people from other groups active in civil society. The opportunity is good, because on this evening people from two festivals come together: those of the WIENWOCHE and those of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
Do we dare to leave our comfort zone? On this day, connections are made, framed by art and artists that bring out the best in us, without closing our eyes to the challenges that we are facing today separately, but together in the future.
The program consists of musical and literary contributions, as well as experimental formats in the field of visual art, sound and performance. Towards the end we let go – and dance together to the DJ line.
